In the ‘70s, there was a popular and well-loved chorus that we sang:
“Would you be free from your burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood!
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood!
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb.
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb!”
Can we say in 2019 that: THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS? Yes, we can.
And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. (Heb 9:22) The blood of Jesus purifies us.
What power does the blood of Jesus have in the life of a Christian?
- Redeems us (Eph 1:7, 1 Pet 1:18-19)
- Gives us power to overcome the enemy, the accuser of the brethren (Rev 12:11)
- Acquaints us with the covenant of promise (Eph 2:12-13)
- Provides unmerited favor [grace] with God (Eph 1:7; Rom 3:24-25)
- Qualifies us to share communion with other believers—the remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice (1 Cor 10:16)
- Gives us an unending redemption (Heb 9:12)
- Furnishes Jesus as our witness in heaven that we are cleansed and justified (Rev 1:5)
- Sets us free (Joh 8:32, 36; Heb 2:14-15; 2 Cor 3:17)
- Causes us to dwell in Christ and He in us (Joh 6:56)
- Cleanses our conscience (Heb 9:14)
- Makes us complete (Col 2:10)
We are a blessed people!
