Hidden with Christ in God

Hidden with Christ in God

How are we “hidden with Christ in God”? Let’s explore this thought.

For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Col 3:3-4 NKJV)

As believers in and followers of Jesus Christ, we have been set free from the law of sin and death. (Rom 8:2) We are set free from the power of sin. (Rom 6:7) Since we are ‘dead’ to sin—or spiritually separated from it through salvation in Jesus—our lives are encompassed or contained in Jesus Christ.

All of this simply means that we are in union with Jesus, our Savior. We are one with Him.

On that day [when that time comes] you will know for yourselves that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you. (Joh 14:20 AMP)

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Gal 2:20 ESV)

As you can see from the two verses shown above, it is clear that we are forever in union with Jesus, and securely enfolded by our loving heavenly Father.

After a little while, the world no longer is going to see Me, but you are going to see Me; because I live, you also will live. (Joh 14:19 NASB)

Being in union with Christ means that the past, present, and future aspects of our life are now and forever tied up and remain in union with Christ, and it began at the Cross when we died with Him. The condition of our lives may appear to contradict this truth, when difficulties rain down upon us, but no matter what life throws at us our union with Christ is 100% secure.

All of this reassures us to realize that we are safe and secure in Jesus. He is our rock, our fortress, deliverer, strength, shield and our stronghold. (Ps 18:2) May God bless your day!

God is Eternal

God is Eternal

How does the fact that God is an eternal Being impact a Christian’s daily life? First, let’s look at some relevant Bible verses:

Your divine throne is eternal and everlasting. Your royal scepter is a scepter of justice. (Ps 45:6 CEB)

But you, Lord, are enthroned forever; You are remembered throughout all generations. (Ps 102:12 ISV)

You, O Lord, remain forever; Your throne from generation to generation. (Lam 5:19 NKJV)

To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. (1 Tim 1:17 ESV)

Because God is an eternal and all-powerful Being, pleasing Him and having a relationship with Him is a satisfying and meaningful investment. It is a relationship that will go on into eternity, and one that will change our daily lives for the better.

The souls of all human beings are destined to continue eternally, and we have the authority to choose whether our eternal home will be in hell or heaven. When we choose to live for Jesus, and to obey the Bible, we make the best decision ever.

God’s wisdom and God’s Words will never pass away. Obeying His Word will be eternally valuable. Therefore, we need to invest NOW in the things that are eternal and affect eternity. This mindset means that we choose to follow Christ’s example daily in every area of our lives.

We are wholly connected with Christ. We are even hidden with Christ in God. (Col 3:3) Therefore, we are secure in Christ. We belong to the Lord, and are protected in Him. The certain and magnificent day will arrive when we will be glorified with Him. Praise God!

The Resurrection & the Life

The Resurrection & the Life

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (Joh 11:25-26)

In this passage of Scripture, Jesus claims to be the Resurrection and the Life. The reason for this is that without Christ, there is no resurrection. Without Christ, there is no eternal life. Because Jesus IS life, death has no power over Him.

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. (Joh 5:24) All who accept Jesus as their Savior and Lord, pass from death into eternal life.

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. (Joh 6:44) Jesus, the Resurrection, will raise up His followers at the end of time.

This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” (Joh 6:50-51) In the ceremony of Communion, which remembers and honors Jesus’ sacrifice, we symbolically eat the Bread of Heaven, Jesus’ flesh. (Represented by bread or a small cracker.)

Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death. (Joh 8:51) Jesus powerful atoning blood covering each obedient believer will usher us into eternal life; we shall not see death.

And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. (Joh 10:28) Jesus says that we are safe in His hand, and no one has the power to take us out of His hand.

. . . and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. (Act 3:15 ESV) In this verse, Jesus is called the “Author of life.”

For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Col 3:3-4) Upon accepting Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we become hidden with Christ in God; and immediately, we enter into life. This passage says that Christ is our life.

Let us appreciate and honor the quality and characteristics of the life that Jesus gives to us. Glory to God!

We Are God’s Possession

We Are God’s Possession

How exciting to understand that we belong to God—we are His possession! This means that He has custody of us, or control of us.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Pet 2:9 ESV, underlining added)

Of course, the Lord will not control us against our will. He created us with free will, and God does not violate that. However, when we submit to Him and to His Lordship, we joyfully desire His leadership and guidance in our lives. We actually invite Him to lead and guide us.

To say that the Lord has custody of us is a good thing! It means that we are in His safekeeping, and that He watches over us. He is our Guardian as well as our Savior and Lord.

“. . . because you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord chose to make you his precious possession from among all the nations of the earth.” (Deu 14:2 ISV)

We are God’s PRECIOUS possession, greatly loved and cherished by Him.

And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s. (1 Cor 3:23 NKJV) The Word reminds us that we belong to Jesus, and Jesus belongs to God. As the Bible so clearly states:

For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Col 3:3 NKJV) Praise God!
