We Shall NOT Lack

The Scriptures tell us that we shall not be in need nor have a shortage of daily provisions. In fact, the Bible says that we who seek the Lord won’t lack ANY GOOD thing. Wow! What a precious and powerful promise that is.

The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. (Ps 34:10 NKJV, emphasis added)

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give favor and glory, for no good thing will He withhold from the one who walks uprightly. (Ps 84:11 MEV, emphasis added)

The verse above goes on to say that NO GOOD THING will the Lord deny from those who walk uprightly. Hallelujah! This applies to believers because we are justified through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Jesus is our righteousness. (Jer 23:6) Also, spending time reading and meditating upon God’s Word cleanses each one of us daily. This means that we may claim this verse for ourselves.

. . . for His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. (2 Pet 1:3 NASB)

This passage in second Peter, above, is very clear that the Lord has already given to us everything that we would ever need for a righteous and holy life through our knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? (Rom 8:32 NIV)

This is a resounding declaration by the Holy Spirit that every believer who has accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord has been FREELY given ALL THINGS. This is a mighty promise from God the Father to every believer. Believe it and stand upon it.

Rejoice in God’s promises and blessing to you, and worship Him with thanksgiving. You are blessed.

Saved, Sanctified, Justified

We, who believe in Jesus Christ, have been saved through God’s mercy. We have been cleansed, sanctified, and justified in and through Jesus, our Savior.

He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. (Tit 3:5 NIV)

The indwelling Holy Spirit is constantly cleansing us and renewing our minds. One tool that is helpful is the Word of God.

And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Cor 6:11)

. . . that he might sanctify her [the Church], having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word . . . (Eph 5:26 ESV, words in brackets added) Another way that we are continuously cleansed and sanctified is through a daily reading of the Scriptures as well as constant meditation upon them. This is what we may choose to do in order to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, our teacher.

. . . knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. (Gal 2:16) This Bible verse reiterates the truth that no one is justified by fulfilling the law but rather through an ongoing faith in and relationship with Jesus Christ, the Savior of mankind. Praise God!

We Were Washed & Sanctified

God’s Word has given us great and precious promises which belong to every believer. We need to study and comprehend all of the priceless treasures that we have been given.

“On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.” (Zech 13:1 NIV)

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. (Ps 51:7 NKJV)

And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Cor 6:11 NKJV)

Jesus suffered at the hands of His enemies; shed His blood on Calvary; died a shame-filled death; and was resurrected on the third day and ascended into Heaven. By fulfilling His calling on this earth, He not only purchased salvation for every person who accepts Him as their Savior and Lord. He also is our source for continuous cleansing, washing, and sanctification.

Jesus is the living Word of God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (Joh 1:1)

He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. (Rev 19:13)

Jesus is the fountain spoken of in Zechariah 13:1.

Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ (Joh 7:38 ESV)

Jesus cleanses us from unrighteousness.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 Joh 1:9)

Through Christ we are justified.

. . . and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. (Ac 13:39)

Through faith in Christ we are sanctified.

. . . to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me. (Ac 26:18)

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. (Rom 3:28)

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ . . . (Rom 5:1)

Let us rejoice and praise the Lord for the benefits and blessings of our mighty salvation!

Benefits of Salvation

The Lord has given His people, those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord, many precious promises which inform us of the benefits and blessings of salvation. Today we’re looking at several of these promises.

The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. (Ps 34:10)

Wow! This passage says that those who seek the Lord will not lack ANY good thing! What a promise, and what a commitment! Were you aware of this promise?

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. (Ps 37:4)

This Psalm says that as we delight in the Lord, He gives us the desires of our hearts. This is a powerful promise from God! What is it that you desire in life? Go to the Lord in prayer and tell Him what you desire and what you need. He will hear and answer your prayers. (1 Joh 5:15)

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. (Ps 84:11)

This Scripture in Psalm 84 is very much like the one in Psalm 34, shown above. It’s reminding us that God withholds NO GOOD THING from the people who live upright, righteous lives. All who have accepted Jesus as our Savior and Lord have been justified and made righteous by the blood of Jesus. Jesus has become our righteousness. (1 Cor 1:30) This is a promise that you may claim for yourself.

Take these verses—these promises from God—to Him in prayer and ask for Him to fulfill them in your life. Persevere in faith and patience, and you will receive the very things that you’ve requested in order to bring glory and honor to God, the Father. (Joh 14:13-14) Hallelujah!

Justified by Faith

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are justified (made righteous) through faith in Jesus Christ alone—not by works.

Here’s what the Bible has to say about justification:

. . . knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. (Gal 2:16)

Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (Gal 3:24)

. . . and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith . . . (Phil 3:9)

Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; ³⁹and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. (Ac 13:38-39, underscoring added)

Even the faith which we have is a gift from God according to Ephesians 2:8. So we cannot boast in our faith, because the faith in which we operate is a gift of God. So, am I saying that good works have no place in the believer’s life? No! Of course not, but let us appreciate and thank God for His precious gift of salvation and the justification that is included in it.

Yes, there is a place for good works. According to Ephesians 2:10, we were created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Titus 3:8 reminds us to maintain good works because they are good and profitable to all people.

So, in our walk of faith let us recognize that we need to feed and strengthen our faith by reading the Word, and we need to maintain good works, as well. With such behavior as this, God is well pleased.

The Seed of Abraham

Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, ¹⁵and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. ¹⁶For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. ¹⁷Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. ¹⁸For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted. (Heb 2:14-18, emphasis added)

Jesus is referred to as the singular “seed of Abraham” in the passage below; and it was to Him (Jesus) that the inheritance of Abraham was promised.

Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ. (Gal 3:16)

And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Gal 3:29)

Even as Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness (Gen 15:6), even so all of us today who believe in Jesus as our Savior—apart from the Law—are justified. Therefore, Abraham is the “father” of all who believe. (Rom 4:11-17) See Galatians 3:29 above once more.

Naturally, the “seed of Abraham” also refers to the Hebrew people who descended from Abraham through Isaac. Even more generally, the seed of Abraham could include Arabs, who trace their lineage through Ishmael. This is the physical seed of Abraham. The spiritual seed of Abraham (believers in Jesus Christ) is comprised of people of all nationalities and ethnicities but who have the same Redeemer & Lord.

Being the spiritual seed of Abraham is much more important than being a physical descendant of Abraham when one is considering eternal truths. Jesus reminds us that we must be born again. (Joh 3:3) Those of us who are born again, are Abraham’s seed, and we are guaranteed a lavish inheritance in Him!

. . . giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. (Col 1:12 – see also Col 3:24, Heb 9:15, 1 Pet 1:3-4)

The Righteous

. . . and the desire of the righteous will be granted. (Pro 10:24b)

. . . the righteous has an everlasting foundation. (Pro 10:25b)

Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. (Pro 11:4)

Let us understand that when the Bible refers to the righteous it is talking about those who have been justified by Jesus Christ by accepting Him as their Savior. Now I’m going to share some thoughts about each verse shown above, in order.

How often does the Bible say that God will give us the desires of our hearts? It may be stated in different ways, but this theme is mentioned in Ps 37:4-5; Ro 4:21; Jer 1:12; Mt 6:33; 7:7-8; Lk 11:9-10 as well as the first verse shown above. How often do you really believe and trust that the Lord wishes to give you the desires of your heart? Yes, we do need to live obediently to Him and to seek His kingdom, and as we are doing that, we have been encouraged by these Scriptures to ask Him to give us what we desire. So many people think only of monetary things, but what we desire may be the salvation of a loved one or the healing of a relationship or any of a number of other spiritually worthy things. And if you do need physical healing or financial blessings, the Bible gives us many promises to encourage our faith in these areas, as well. So, I encourage you to share your desires with the Lord.
The foundation that the righteous have that is everlasting is Jesus Christ, the Chief Cornerstone. (Mt 21:42; 1 Cor 3:11) In Him, we are secure and anchored, so don’t let go of your foundation of faith.
Humanly speaking, people appreciate having more than enough money because it solves so many challenges and problems in the natural realm. But even more important than wealth (according to the Bible) is righteousness, because righteousness liberates us from spiritual death, and from the fear of physical death.
1. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (Jo 14:6, emphasis added)
2. And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. (Rev 21:6, emphasis added)

Today we may rejoice in the blessings and the promises that God has given to us—His righteous, blessed children.
