Prosperity & Pride

Prosperity & Pride

It’s a sad fact of life that many believers who experience prosperity fall prey to a proud and haughty spirit, and no longer trust in the Lord for anything.  Because they are prosperous, they think that they will ALWAYS be prosperous, and therefore, well able to provide for their own needs—whatever they may be!

What a truly sad state of affairs for a follower of Jesus Christ to “forget” their Savior, as the following Scriptures will demonstrate:

. . . lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them, 13 and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery . . .  (Deut 8:12-14 ESV)

But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; you grew fat, you grew thick, you are obese!  Then he forsook God who made him, and scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.  (Deut 32:15 NKJV)

When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me.  (Hos 13:6 NIV)

This article is merely a timely warning to us all that we NOT become complacent, but rather, let us continue to read and meditate upon the Bible regularly.  Let us continue to pray to the Lord, and to thank Him and praise Him for all of our many blessings.  Let us remember that it is the LORD who upholds and sustains our very lives.

All that we have and all that we are is thanks to the Lord, our Creator and Savior.  Let’s give Him the praise, honor and glory that He deserves. Hallelujah!

Live in Peace & Don’t Worry

Live in Peace & Don’t Worry

The Lord tells us in the Bible not to be anxious or worried.  Did you know that the opposite of worry is PEACE?  Let’s read these Bible verses on our topic of avoiding worry.

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.  (1 Pet 5:7 ESV)

When you have needs in your life, pray about them and trust the Lord to fulfill all of your needs because He loves you unconditionally.    Then trust in the Lord to show you His solution(s).

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Therefore, I say to you, don’t worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.  (Lk 12:22 CEB)

Jesus tells us here directly, “Don’t worry.”

Never worry about anything. Instead, in every situation let your petitions be made known to God through prayers and requests, with thanksgiving.  (Phil 4:6 MEV)

The Lord encourages us to pray about everything, and then to thank Him for answered prayer.  Note that the Lord tells us to thank Him immediately for answering our prayer!  This is the correct use of our faith in God and in His Word.  Glory to God!

We can be confident and assured that God hears and answers our prayers because the Bible tells us that He does.  (see Mt 21:22; Mk 11:24; Joh 15:7; 1 Joh 5:14-15)

In prayer, we can tell the Lord what we need, and thank Him for all that He has already done in our lives. Then we will truly experience God’s peace, which goes beyond anything that we can understand.  For these are spiritual matters and need to be spiritually discerned. God bless you!

Reigning on Earth

Reigning on Earth

The day is coming when those who have been faithful witnesses to Jesus, and have overcome persecution and hardships and rejection shall reign with Christ on earth!

Here are some of the promises in the Bible concerning this topic:

Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him a thousand years.  (Rev 20:6  NRSV, emphasis added)

If we endure, we will also reign with him.  If we deny him, he also will deny us.  (2 Tim 2:12 WEB, emphasis added)

And have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.  (Rev 5:10 NKJV, emphasis added)

Those “who have endured” have suffered persecution and torture without denying their faith in Jesus Christ.  Many have become martyrs and given their lives in service of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  These people are overcomers.

The day is coming when Christians in America will be tempted severely.  Persecution has already begun.

Meditate upon the Scriptures and memorize them.  Prepare yourself in every spiritual way possible, and trust the Lord to sustain you and to guide you to victory.  Glory to God!
