The Bible says that we should ‘declare God’s glory among the nations,’ but what does that mean and how do we do that?

First, let’s review Scripture passages on this topic:

Declare his glory among the nations, and his miraculous deeds to all people . . .  (1 Chron 16:24 ISV)

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.  (Ps 19:1-2 NIV)

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.  (Ps 96:3 NIV)

When using the term glory, a lot of us expect it to mean declaring or talking about God’s attributes:  His beauty and splendor; His holiness and power; His supremacy and rule; His majesty and compassion.  In this instance, the word glory is used specifically to refer to God’s character being revealed physically to sinful people.

The glory of God is a reference to the amazing miracle that the infinitely glorious, holy, and powerful God comes to dwell with His people in all their wickedness and ruin.  The Bible gives us a detailed explanation of when this occurs in the human, natural realm in the first chapter of the book of John.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (Joh 1:14)  Jesus is the earthly and visible incarnation of the glory of God.

Before we can give a testimony about Jesus, it’s vital that we have had our own, personal experience with Him and have an ongoing relationship with Him.  We need to have seen and felt and tasted and experienced the wonder of what He’s done in our lives.

A wonderful tool to use is to keep a record (whether a computer document, a spreadsheet, a spiral-bound notebook with handwritten notes, or an oral recounting) of every answered prayer and outright miracle that you have experienced thanks to your relationship with Jesus Christ!  It will encourage your own faith, and the faith of other people to hear these glorious testimonies of God’s love, kindness, and power.

This will help you to give your testimonies accurately, and frequently and to bring glory to God!  Praise God!
